General Secretary’s Note

The Chaudhry Rahmat Ali Memorial Trust was established in 1976 by Prof. Dr. S. M. K. Wasti and a team of like-minded benefactors under the Trust Act of 1882. The objective was to provide the neighboring community with comprehensive healthcare and educational facilities. Over these 48 years, prominent members of civil society have served as the Trust’s Trustees, Chairmen, and General Secretaries. They have contributed to building a legacy of reliable and respected service to the poor and vulnerable segments of society. This legacy remains strong today and is reflected in the Trust’s daily operations.

The Trust today oversees five institutions. These provide health and education services to thousands of community members daily. The Trust employs a cost-recovery strategy in which funds are raised and spent exclusively on the welfare of patients and students. This approach ensures sustainability and transparency. At the Trust Hospital, over the past two years, several innovative projects have been implemented. These projects have raised the hospital’s capabilities and operational efficiency, enabling better use of existing resources.

A thorough hospital master plan, prepared in partnership with really good architects, is about to be examined and aims to increase bed capacity, operating theatres, diagnostic facilities, and allied medical services to meet future community health care needs.

The Trust’s schools have also been given major infrastructure and academic quality upgrades that go hand in hand. Schools have already benefitted from greater monitoring of academic calendars, teacher professional development, and improved oversight of school management. Together, these steps have led to measurable positive changes. Schools have also been prompted to expand their co-curricular and non-academic activities. This expansion makes full use of their spacious, well-conducive, purpose-built campuses.
